“God, I pray Thee, light these idle sticks of my life and may I burn for Thee. Consume my life, my God, for it is Thine. I seek not a long life, but a full one, like You, Lord Jesus.” - Jim Elliot

I was reading a post on xanga from my friend Tommy. It totally applies to where I am at now and I am reposting what he wrote.
“Working on growing spiritually;
Pondering what makes me feel alive;
Wondering how long some of my goals will take;
Trying to succeed in every avenue;
Hopefully not failing at any of the above;
Looking for the Rebecca of my dreams.”
I can’t really write it any better!
I really like 24. I have seen every episode of every season! The season premier was this last weekend. Yes, I will be watching every week. I can handle the wait as I am a pretty patient man… maybe.
Jack Bauer said something that hit me, “The only reason I fought so hard to stay alive in China (tortured as a prisoner) was so I wouldn’t die for nothing. Today, I can die for something.”
That really spoke to me. I want to live every day of my life to accomplish something. I want it to be that when I die, I can say, “I died for something.” Even more importantly, “I lived for something.”
When I get tired; when I get overwhelmed; when things don’t go my way; when life doesn’t seem fair; when I don’t get what I believe I deserve; when my schedule is ‘overloaded’; when work is too ‘busy’; when I don’t have ‘enough’ money; no matter what the circumstance… I know that I am pushing forward with a purpose in mind. I am enduring with a bigger goal in mind. I am a part of a bigger plan. There is a bigger purpose for my life.
I WILL live. And I WILL die for something worth dying for!
“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.” - Philippians 3:12-14

My Utmost For His Highest
“To become one with Jesus Christ, a person must be willing not only to give up sin, but also surrender his whole way of looking at things.
Being born again by the Spirit of God means that we must first be willing to let go before we can grasp something else.
Are we willing to surrender our grasp on all that we possess, our desires, and everything else in our lives? Are we ready to be identified with the death of Jesus Christ?”
